What’s your name for intuition?
As I was revising my website, I put a call out to friends and colleagues via Facebook to hear their names for intuition. Here’s a word cloud of their responses.
What’s your name for intuition?
How do you differentiate between intuition (or whatever you name it) and ego or personality?
In some ways, it doesn’t matter what you name it, only that you know when you hear, see feel or experience it. For instance, when I’m considering options, I go with the one that makes me feel lighter or clearer. If an option is murky or overly complicated, it’s likely my mind getting involved rather than intuition or guidance. I find guidance is simple and straightforward, whether it’s whispered or loud.
But clarity and lightness doesn’t mean feeling “high” either. Feeling ungrounded (swirly, floaty, etc.) is not lightness. For me, there needs to be an embodied experience to the lightness. That could feel like spaciousness or openness in my body or a seeing a window opening in my mind. These feel different than a swirling in my head or outside of my body, which suggests being ungrounded.
I am as guilty of wanting something so badly that I convince myself it’s the “right thing” and mistaking the high I get from that with the lightness of guidance. Sometimes it’s a fine line between the two.
