The LinkedIn Sprint??!! and using intuition at work…

A week ago my coach suggested I participate in a LinkedIn Sprint—a training on how to develop a daily writing and posting practice that could also help build my audience. She was participating as were a few coaches I’ve been wanting to get to know. So I said “YES!”

Then I found out I would have to post and do all the things by 9 a.m. Arizona time. Wow. I’ve already committed to a morning routine for my health and getting the pup walked or to daycare by 8 a.m.. It’s been a lesson in accepting 85% – a solid B – as good enough.

And yet, I’m REALLY enjoying the writing, posting, and connecting. I’ve focused on writing about intuition in my posts this week. I’ve included two of them below for your education and enjoyment! And if you’d like more, come on over and hang out with me on LinkedIn.

p.s. don’t forget to “Be the person who decided to go for it!” – the message on my mug…

I believe every day should be “Bring your Intuition to Work Day.”

Intuition is a powerful and effective way to navigate life. All of life. It’s our inborn guidance or navigation system. Our way of connecting to the electrical and emotional energy in ourselves and others. I suspect you’re using it in your work-life already, you just may not call it intuition.

  • That niggle that suggests talking to your boss right now about time off is not a good idea? Intuition.

  • That time you put off completing a project only to discover the deadline had been pushed back? Intuition.

  • That time you just knew – “That’s enough. I’m done.” Intuition.

We use our intuition every day to navigate the world. Why not harness it for your work?

Intuition is active in our body, like our heart. It’s right there for us, all the time when we listen more closely. 5 key points about Intuition:

  1. We all have it.

  2. It expresses differently in each of us, but there are some similarities (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance, etc.).

  3. The more we tune in and pay attention, the more accurately we interpret what we see, hear, feel, and experience.

  4. The more we act on intuition and track the outcomes, the more we trust it.

  5. Intuition is, in many ways, like water moving through a garden hose. It flows freely, unencumbered unless the hose is kinked. Learn to unkink the hose.

  6. Patience, practice, and persistence are key.

Intuition? Guidance? Fear? Anxiety? Ego? How do I discern??????

Intuition:

  • Steady, consistent, and has a gentle feeling to it.

  • Quiet – like a whisper or a nudge.

  • You are breathing and feel calm even if the idea/action is stimulating.

  • Gently persistent.

  • Suggests action in the moment (e.g., register for the conference now).

  • Loud only when your life or wellbeing is urgently in danger.

  • A sense of curiosity arises.

Not Intuition:

  • Sounds like your mother on a bad day. Or a mean boss.

  • Demanding, agitated feelings come with it.

  • It has a dreamy or fantastical feel to it.

  • Feelings of panic and you can’t breathe.

  • Suggests action more than a few moments in the future.

Intuition reveals itself through your nervous system.

  • If your nervous system is on high alert, it’s a sign that your mind is involved or you’re in real danger.

  • If your nervous system is calm, it’s likely guidance – even if you are a bit anxious or afraid of the outcome.

Take three deep breaths, feel your feet on the ground, and then notice. If the panic, anxiety, and fear go away and the nudge is still present, it’s likely intuition.
