2013 Round-up: Engaging Intuition and Faith

I spent a lot of 2013 diligently engaging intuition and faith. Most mornings, I listened for guidance – ways to spend my time that would be for the highest good of the Universe. I practiced trusting that what I heard, no matter how odd, would turn out OK when I acted on it.

The majority of the guidance I received was to increase self care (more yoga, walking, massages, healthy food, etc.) and to put more of myself and my work out into the Albuquerque community. So that’s what I did.

I spent the first half of the year recovering from surgery, but in the second half, I spent a lot of time on my yoga mat, walking my dog, and learning to market myself. I focused on grounding myself more deeply into the local community through working and collaborating with local practitioners, offering workshops, and volunteering at La Montanita Coop and Unity Spiritual Center.

I missed writing this blog. Yet no matter how often I tried, no words came forth to be written. But I did write. Part of “putting myself out there” to the local community was learning to advertise in and write for local publications. It was a stretch to write news briefs in third person and come up with topics for articles, but I’m so glad I did it!

In case you haven’t had a chance to read them, here they are:
Learning to Fly: Engaging Intuition and Faith (in E.P.I.C.‘s first ever ABQ/SF/Taos edition)
Lessons from a Dragonfly: How Intuition and Faith Support Transformation (in Natural Awakenings Northern NM)

My husband, Jacob Gotwals, and I launched a podcast this fall. You can listen to episodes of Aspiring Coaches and Therapists: Conversations on the Art and Business of Facilitating Transformation on his website. The first several episodes are Jacob and me chatting about a variety of topics. The intention for 2014 is to debut a series of interviews with coaches and therapists about how they came to their vocation, built their practices, and any tips they have for people in the early stages of training for or starting a coaching or therapy practice.

I also spent time developing content for new workshops that I offered locally (and one in NYC) in 2013. I will offer several of them through teleconferencing in 2014, so stay tuned. I had fun offering each and every one of them, even as I had to overcome the doubt that inevitably comes from trying new things and pushing my edge.

Writing this blog entry is part of that – pushing my edge. The guidance I received was to write a 2013 round-up blog; letting you all know where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing. But even as I know the guidance is sound, I wonder “Why, exactly, am I doing this?“. That’s where faith comes in. Faith is trusting the guidance and taking the action, even when I don’t know why or what the outcome will be.

Engaging intuition and leaning into faith always leads to flight (read my articles to find out why:-). I’m looking forward to seeing how else I take flight after a year of diligently listening to and following the guidance I received.

I also wonder about you. How have you been engaging your intuition and relying on faith? In what ways have you taken flight?

  1. Beautifully written. Thank you for sharing — for putting your self out there for me to receive. Focusing on my own practice of engaging intuition and faith is a priority intention of mine for 2014, so your blog and modeling are much appreciated. xo
